ROLLE, Switzerland -- The dramatic Infiniti Coupe Concept has been selected to compete in the 2007 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, the most traditional of all beauty contests for classic automobiles and contemporary concept cars.
The annual contest will be held from April 20-23 at the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este on Lake Como, Italy - the site of the Concorso since its origin in 1929.
The Coupe Concept, a design exploration of future Infiniti sports coupe concepts, was created by Nissan Motor Co.'s design headquarters in Atsugi, Japan and was first unveiled at the 2006 North American International Auto Show. Shiro Nakamura, senior vice president and chief creative officer at Nissan, will represent the company at the event.
Highlights of the coupe concept's exterior design include a full-length glass panel roof, modulated front fenders, large projector headlights, hidden door handles and large 20-inch, 9-spoke painted aluminum-alloy wheels. The stunning exterior is matched with an elegant interior featuring an Infiniti signature "double-wave" instrument panel, textured aluminum accents and a sweeping center console.
The Infiniti luxury brand was first launched in 1989 in the US. Today it is also sold in Canada, Taiwan, the Middle East, Korea and Russia. Later this year the brand will go on sale in China and the Ukraine. The brand will also be introduced across Europe in the latter half of 2008. |GlobalGiants.com|

HOUSTON, April 15 -- Students from the across the U.S. and Canada competed yesterday at the first Shell Eco-marathon(TM) Americas. Shell challenged the engineering students to drive their vehicles the farthest distance using the least amount of fuel, either conventional or alternative. While all of the teams accomplished impressive fuel economy figures, team Cal Poly San Luis Obispo won the challenge with an astonishing 1902.7 miles per gallon.
After more than 20 successful years in Europe and the United Kingdom, the world-renowned Shell Eco-marathon(TM) made its debut in the United States as the Shell Eco-marathon(TM) Americas. From vehicle design to financing, student participants gain hands-on experience managing their project and applying skills in science, technology, mathematics, business and design. Throughout the project, they demonstrate hard work, creativity and ingenuity, while addressing one of the most pressing issues in today's society: sustainable mobility.
The 2007 European Shell Eco-marathon(TM) event is set to take place at the Nogaro Racing Circuit in the South of France on May 11-13, 2007. The New York Times Adds to Its Delivery Fleet the First Medium-duty Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle : GlobalGiants.com

The New York Times has been selected to receive the first medium-duty plug-in hybrid vehicle on the East Coast of the United States, and the first of its kind in New York State, as part of a commercial fleet performance demonstration and technology evaluation process.
The van, a Dodge Sprinter plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), will be housed at The New York Times printing plant in College Point, Queens. It will be used to transport New York Times newspapers to The Times’s headquarters in midtown Manhattan, as well as to different locations in the New York City area. It will also travel to The Times’s plant in Edison, N.J.
The Dodge Sprinter plug-in hybrid was made available to The Times by a partnership between DaimlerChrysler, the New York Power Authority (NYPA), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Con Edison. The partnership was created to test and evaluate plug-in hybrid technology in real world driving environments. DaimlerChrysler is the only automaker to test plug-in hybrid technology with customers within the United States. |GlobalGiants.com|

NEW YORK, April 8 -- The celebrations for the 60th Anniversary of Ferrari continued yesterday as New York Yankees Manager Joe Torre welcomed Ferrari's latest model, the 599 GTB Fiorano, into Yankee Stadium. Torre was presented with the Ferrari 60 Relay baton which is being passed from country-to-country at events which are taking place on five continents around the globe this year.
The relay involves over 10,000 Ferrari owners and their cars of all ages. They act as symbolic "bearers" of a specially commissioned relay baton adorned with 60 badges symbolizing the most extraordinary events in the Marque's 60- year history.
The 599 GTB Fiorano which drove into Yankee Stadium was number 1492 in the Relay, symbolizing a link to the year in which the Americas were discovered.
The relay started in Abu Dhabi and made its way across the Middle East to Asia, Australia and Africa before arriving in the Americas, where events were held in Miami, Sao Paolo, Mexico City, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal. The relay will move next to all main European countries before arriving at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy on June 23rd. |GlobalGiants.com|

NEW YORK, April 3 -- The celebrations for the 60th Anniversary of Ferrari arrived in New York City on Saturday, March 31st, when almost one hundred customers drove their cars in a symbolic "relay" that took them to Washington D.C. The drive started at 9am on Saturday morning from Tavern on the Green restaurant in Central Park and arrived late in the afternoon in Washington DC, where a reception was hosted at the Italian Embassy.
During the evening The Honorable Giovanni Castellaneta, Ambassador of Italy to the United States, received a gift from Maurizio Parlato, President and CEO of Ferrari North America. This symbolic present will be auctioned off in a charity event that will take place at Ferrari's Maranello headquarters -- at the end of the anniversary celebrations in June.
