The Freightliner Sprinter wears the CUV badge, which is short for commercial utility vehicle. A CUV is a work vehicle that combines the cargo- hauling capacity of a box truck or the people hauling capacity of a mini-bus with the confident handling and smooth ride of a luxury pickup truck.

The Freightliner Sprinter's unique design allows owners to walk in upright and stand while working rather than having to stoop to enter a typical full- size van and kneel to assemble parts. Roof heights range to seven ft., while the step-in height at the side door is 19.9 inches. It's also easy to move broad objects into the vehicle through its side door opening that measures 6 feet high by 4 feet, 4 inches wide.

Freightliner Sprinter CUVs are marketed by DaimlerChrysler Vans, LLC, a division of the world's leading seller of commercial vehicles. [GlobalGiants.com]

Incredible 'Walking' Elephant to be sold at Red Baron Sale, February 17-18

BARON ELEPHANT

ATLANTA, Feb. 15 -- An enormous 'walking' mechanical elephant that was ridden by President Eisenhower at the 1952 Republican National Convention, plus a half-dozen rare vintage guitars - a 1959 Gibson Les Paul and five D-series Martins, collectively worth more than $1 million - will be sold the weekend of February 17-18 by Red Baron, the premier auction house in the Southeast.

The elephant - a colossus by any measure, at about 20 feet tall - was the brainchild of Frank Stuart, an English visionary, and inventor who built three of the forward-propelled pachyderms in the years following World War II. One is permanently housed in a museum in Austria, one is in a private museum in Chicago, and the third (the one being sold) comes directly from the Stuart family.

The elephant 'walks' with the help of a four-cylinder, Chevy-powered engine and an elaborate network of hydraulics neatly tucked inside the body cavity. It skates along, at speeds of up to 20 mph, and has been featured over the years in publications like Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Forbes, and Architectural Digest Motoring. It has also been in numerous parades and festivals.

Its crowning achievement came in 1952, when Dwight Eisenhower rode it to the Republican National Convention, in front of a horde of reporters, cameras, and well-wishers.

BENETTON'S KILLER LOOP COLLECTION: SPRING/SUMMER 2007 : GlobalGiants.com

Killer Loops’ collection for next summer: tiny details, minimal modifications, changed proportions. Having abandoned the excesses that verged on sloppiness, there are the first signs of a new surf-skate-street style:

Killer Loop

Killer Loop

Surf Turf. The air and flavour are those of the sea and holidays. For her, pastels on white and denim. Under, a bikini. Over, embroidered 70s’ muslins, flowery tops that seem faded because they’re printed on the inside, fine-striped polo shirts. Trousers are still low-slung, though the crotch is higher. For him, laminated prints on T-shirts full of inlays, topstitching, contrast piping; white, comfortable trousers and, above all, denim, army-canvas or cotton Bermuda shorts with faux tribal emblems. And, lastly, nylon Bermudas for riding the waves.

Killer Loop

Urban hype. The angry young people have calmed down. Midnight-black, spraycan-black, gang-black, but… She mixes studs with rhinestones, adopts bubblegum-pink, little-girl-white, camo prints with butterflies and Lurex threads that appear on tops, T-shirts and mini shorts with an almost disco air. He, too, is covered in studs and wears a shiny satin bomber jacket, but he also displays unexpected, elegant touches: salmon-pink sweaters, helicopter-pilot trousers in Prince of Wales checks, embroidered shoulder tabs, a logo printed half on the front and half on the back, plain-coloured prints printed right-side-up or upside-down. And denim, washed with moderation. [GlobalGiants.com]
