Arts & Leisure Weekend of The New York Times

Celebration of Art and Culture to be held January 5 - 7, 2007.

NEW YORK -- Sixth Annual Arts & Leisure Weekend of The New York Times has been announced to be held from January 5 to January 7, 2007. The Weekend is The Times's annual signature event, a national and international celebration of art and culture. It includes interviews by Times journalists with celebrated artists, and special offers at cultural institutions around the world. Advance tickets are available at www.ArtsAndLeisureWeekend.com.

The Times will have an Access Pass to many events hosted throughout the weekend. The Pass will be available for consumers in event program guides, published in The New York Times and posted on www.ArtsAndLeisureWeekend.com.

2007 Celebration Begins with the Launch of The Times's New "Emerging Artists" Series with Special Guest Host James Taylor; Concludes with a Gala TimesTalk Event to Benefit The Actors' Fund of America and MusiCares Featuring Pop Sensation Fergie... Augusten Burroughs, Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus, Joan Didion, Renee Fleming, Richard Ford, Peter Gelb, David Hare, Brice Marden, Thom Mayne, Frank McCourt, Jessica Molaskey and John Pizzarelli, Julianne Moore, Dan Rather, Vanessa Redgrave, Martin Short, Rufus Wainwright and Brian Williams.

This year's sponsors for Arts & Leisure Weekend are Bloomingdale's, The Container Store, Cunard, Level Vodka and Palm; WCBS-TV is this year's media sponsor.

In New York City, The Times will host a series of TimesTalks discussions featuring an array of arts luminaries in conversation with Times critics, reporters and editors. This year, headliners include "Lost" creator J.J. Abrams; best-selling memoir authors Augusten Burroughs, Frank McCourt and Jeannette Walls; "Hannah Montana" stars Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus; Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Ford; Metropolitan Opera impresario Peter Gelb with acclaimed soprano Renee Fleming; award-winning playwright David Hare with Academy Award(R) nominee Julianne Moore; American abstract painter Brice Marden; Pritzker Prize-winning architect Thom Mayne; acclaimed jazz and cabaret recording artists Jessica Molaskey and John Pizzarelli; news anchor Dan Rather; Academy Award(R) winner Vanessa Redgrave with celebrated author Joan Didion; Tony Award(R) winning actor/comedian Martin Short; singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright; and "NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams.

Arts & Leisure Weekend will kick off Jan. 4 at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater with the launch of The Times's new "Emerging Artists" series. This exciting monthly live-performance series will feature established recording artists introducing some of today's freshest new musical talents. Grammy Award(R) winner James Taylor will serve as the special guest host on Jan. 4.

On Monday, Jan. 8, as a finale to the weekend, The Actors' Fund of America will kick off their 125th year with a special TimesTalk featuring pop sensation Fergie. Chief pop music critic Jon Pareles will host the interview and musical performance. Proceeds from this event will benefit The Actors' Fund of America and MusiCares.
