Nokia and Popular Science Magazine Announce Nokia N800 Internet Tablet Reader Challenge : GlobalGiants.com
NEW YORK, Feb. 14 -- Nokia and Popular Science Magazine are joining forces to create the Popular Science Nokia N800 Reader Challenge, a contest calling for user-developed applications, scripts, services or hardware additions for the new Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. The Linux-based Nokia N800 provides portable Internet access via Wi-Fi or an enabled cell phone with Bluetooth connectivity for Web browsing, email, instant messaging, Internet calling with integrated webcam, RSS feeds, streaming music and much more.
Judges are looking for innovative applications, scripts, services or hardware additions that will appeal to a broad range of users and make the Nokia N800 even more of a must have for those who view the Internet as an essential part of their daily lives. Some ideas for applications include desktop widgets to monitor blog comments, eBay auctions, and other personal online activities or using the Nokia N800 as a city guide or as a remote control for your home security system, temperature control and lighting. Applications can also be server or network based and utilized though the N800 browser, email, chat and other inbuilt applications.
Contest entries may be submitted via email at http://www.popsci.com/nokia and will be judged by product experts at Nokia and Popular Science editors. Two winners will be selected and will have the opportunity to showcase their winning innovation in the May or June issue of Popular Science. [GlobalGiants.com]
