The program, which premiered to a national audience Saturday, February 10 at 7pm (CT) on The History Channel, explores the little-known story of the U.S. Navy's Africa squadron, dedicated to ending the slave trade stemming from the west coast of Africa, prior to the beginning of the Civil War.

Complete with historical accounts, interviews with experts and re-enactments, the film examines the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, which is believed to be responsible for the enslavement of more than 15 million Africans over its tragic four hundred year history.

The History Channel(R) is one of the leading cable television networks featuring compelling original, non-fiction specials and series that bring history to life in a powerful and entertaining manner across multiple platforms.

Time Warner Cable owns and manages cable systems serving 14.4 million subscribers in 33 states. Time Warner Cable is a subsidiary of Time Warner Inc. (NYSE:TWX) . [GlobalGiants.com]
