Washington, DC, March 11, 2022 — The National Press Club will host a special screening of the Oscar-nominated film “Writing with Fire” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 14.

The documentary tells the story of Khabar Lahariya, the only news network in India run by women. The fierce band of Dalit (low caste) women serves as an anchor for truth and justice and a pillar of democracy. They defy the bounds of gender and caste and redefine what it means to be influential in their homes and the world with wit and grace.

The event, which is open to Club members and their guests, begins at 6:30 p.m. with a conversation with the film’s directors, Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh. The screening starts at 7:30 p.m.

The film won the Audience Award at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
