CHANDIGARH, India, May 15, 2023 — Today, Chancellor Satnam Sandhu of Chandigarh University declared that the university and the Chandigarh Administration would collaborate to enhance the quality of school education in Chandigarh through continuous improvement efforts.

The Chandigarh University recently held the inaugural Chandigarh Schools Excellence Awards (CSEA) to recognize the hard work of educational institutions and faculty members. The event, held at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre in Sector 26, Chandigarh, was attended by dignitaries such as Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit, UT Adviser Dharam Pal, and the Chancellor of Chandigarh University. Over 200 schools from Chandigarh participated, and 237 awards were conferred under 21 categories, including awards for principals, teachers, and schools.

Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu acknowledged that while Chandigarh is a model city in education, there are still areas that need improvement. The town ranks 2nd in the Performance Grading Index 2020-21, but Sandhu hopes to work with the UT administration to return to the top spot. To aid in this effort, the university announced two free certificate courses for school principals and teachers to improve their skills in teaching and learning.

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit praised Chandigarh University for establishing the Chandigarh School’s Excellence Awards and its efforts to improve education in Chandigarh. He also emphasized the importance of education in Indian culture, where respect for teachers has always been a core value. UT Adviser Dharam Pal emphasized the crucial role of education in national growth and the government’s efforts to promote quality education through infrastructure development, research, and digital skills.

Chandigarh University, situated near Chandigarh in Punjab, is a QS World Ranked University. Despite being one of the youngest universities in India, it stands out as the only private university in Punjab to have received an A+ Grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). CU boasts an impressive range of more than 109 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including engineering, management, pharmacy, law, architecture, journalism, animation, hotel management, commerce, and other fields.
