The Swedish Academy has awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for 2023 to the Norwegian author Jon Fosse.

Stockholm, October 5, 2023 — The Swedish Academy has announced that it has awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 2023 to the Norwegian writer Jon Fosse. Fosse has been honored with the prestigious award “for his innovative plays and prose which give voice to the unsayable.”
Fosse has written extensive work in Norwegian Nynorsk, spanning various genres, including plays, novels, poetry collections, essays, children’s books, and translations. He is one of the most widely performed playwrights globally and is increasingly recognized for his prose writing.
