University Grants Commission (UGC) India issues a 'FEE Refund Policy 2022-2023' Notice to all Higher Educational Institutions.
New Delhi, August 03, 2022 — University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a ‘FEE Refund Policy 2022-2023’ Notice to all Higher Educational Institutions, including all universities, colleges, and institutes in India.
In its communication, UGC has reminded them that on July 12, 2022, it had asked them to fix the last date of their undergraduate admission process after CBSE declared the class X result. As a result, it provided sufficient time for such students for admission to undergraduate courses.
UGC has told the higher education institutions to note that several entrance examinations, including CUET, JEE Main, and JEE Advance, have been delayed, due to which admissions may continue up to October 2022.
Given the above, and to avoid financial hardships the parents face, UGC has now decided that higher educational institutions should, as a special case, make a full refund of fees on account of all cancellations of admissions/migrations of students up to October 31, 2022, for the academic session 2022-2023.
Further, UGC has clarified that the entire fee, including all charges, should be refunded (i.e., there should be zero cancellation charges) on account of cancellations/migrations up to October 31, 2022. After that, on cancellation/withdrawal of admissions up to December 31, 2022, the entire fee collected from a student should be refunded in full after deducting not more than Rs. 1,000/- as a processing fee.
UGC has instructed all Higher Educational Institutions to ensure compliance with its directions regarding the refund of fees.
