Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, September 27, 2022 - After a summer break of 62 days, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season heads into the second-last meeting of the year at the iconic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The one-make championship, reserved for Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, still has several titles to be decided, with 24 drivers already standing on the top step of the podium so far this year.

The championship returns to the 4.655km Barcelona track for the first time since 2020 and the fourth time in the history of Super Trofeo Europe. Previous appearances at the Spanish venue came in 2011 and 2009.

At the top of the Pro are the runaway leaders from Bonaldi Motorsport, Loris Spinelli and Max Weering, who can wrap up the drivers’ title this weekend. The dominant forces all season, the crew of the #61 car, will be looking to bounce back from an uncharacteristically off weekend last time out at Spa-Francorchamps, where they failed to win either race. Despite this, Spinelli and Weering remain 37 points clear of BDR Competition’s Amaury Bonduel, who claimed a breakthrough maiden Super Trofeo victory on home soil at Spa in July.

The battle for Pro-Am honors this season has been one of the best for years, and the Oregon Team pairing of Lewis Williamson and Massimo Ciglia will be aiming to continue their strong form in Barcelona. Already a winner four times this year - with a further three second places - the Scottish-Italian partnership has a 24-point lead over the Rexal FFF Racing Team crew of Oscar Lee and Dan Wells heading into the weekend. Behind, the Target Racing entry of Milan Petelet and Dmitry Gvazava is third ahead of VS Racing’s Emanuele Zonzini and Emanuel Colombini. Meanwhile, Micanek Motorsport’s Bronislav Formanek and Karol Basz will look for a positive weekend after missing both races at Spa-Francorchamps due to mechanical issues and car damage.

Multiple Lamborghini Cup champion Gerard van der Horst remains on course for another title at the top of the standings. Three victories, two seconds, and a third place have left the famous Dutchman 20 points ahead of Rexal FFF Racing Team’s Donovan and Luciano Privitelio. A distant third is Hans Fabri (Imperiale Racing), some 58 points further back. Belgian siblings François and Benoît Semoulin are three points adrift in fourth.

The weekend’s action begins with two one-hour free practice sessions on Friday, while the pair of 20-minute qualifying sessions are scheduled for Saturday morning. The first of two 50-minute races, with a rolling start, takes place on Saturday at 15:40. Race 2 will start on Sunday morning at 10:30. Both races will be streamed live worldwide on the Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube channel.

UNESCO launches 2022 State of the Education Report for India: Artificial Intelligence in Education

UNESCO India Report

New Delhi, September 24, 2022: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched today its 2022 State of the Education Report (SOER) for India: “Artificial Intelligence in Education - Here, There and Everywhere.”

This publication is the annual flagship report of the UNESCO New Delhi Office, prepared after extensive research.

This fourth edition of the State of Education Report introduces Artificial Intelligence (AI) to demystify a subject that has endured various misconceptions. It is supplemented by an overview of challenges and opportunities in the Indian education sector that Artificial Intelligence can address.

“Today, improving the quality of education and students’ learning outcomes are the utmost priorities of all countries. India has made significant strides in its education system, and strong indicators point to the country’s notable efforts to enhance learning outcomes, including by using Artificial Intelligence-powered education technology,” said Eric Falt, Director, UNESCO New Delhi.

“The Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology is pleased to note that UNESCO has dedicated the theme of its 2022 ‘State of the Education Report for India’ to Artificial Intelligence in Education. We believe this report is timely, as it can contribute towards transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy and make Digital India a reality,” Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, remarked.

Some reports predict that the AI market in India will reach US$7.8 billion by 2025 at the rate of 20.2 percent compound annual growth. To align India’s curriculum to the 21st century and to prepare the students for the AI economy, India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 lays profound emphasis on the need to impart the necessary technical knowledge at all levels of education. In addition, it emphasizes the integration of AI in Education to promote quality and skill-based education.

With this Report, UNESCO offers a glimpse of the varied dimensions and suggestions for future uses of Artificial Intelligence. “We hope this publication will serve as a helpful reference tool for enhancing and influencing programs and policies related to technology and, in particular, Artificial Intelligence,” Unesco India said.

In line with the national vision of Digital India, the report concludes with ten action-oriented recommendations that will catalyze India’s transformational journey through technical education and advanced tech-driven solutions in the educational processes.

The Artificial Intelligence and the Futures of Learning project build on the Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence adopted at the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference.

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. It seeks to build peace through international cooperation in Education, the Sciences, and Culture. UNESCO’s programs contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals defined in Agenda 2030, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015.

In this spirit, UNESCO develops educational tools to help people live as global citizens free of hate and intolerance. By promoting cultural heritage and all cultures’ equal dignity, UNESCO strengthens nations’ bonds. Furthermore, UNESCO helps countries adopt international standards and manages programs that foster the free flow of ideas and knowledge sharing.

The “SDG Moment “is an event during the UN General Assembly high-level week to highlight the promise of inclusion, resilience, and sustainability embedded in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in times of crisis. Convened by Secretary-General António Guterres, the event is shaped by the narrative of the SDGs as our To-Do List for a better future for all on a safe and healthy planet. In addition, the SDG Moment features the Secretary-General’s SDG Advocates Co-Chairs, and SDG Dialogues focused on solutions for inequalities and climate and environmental challenges.

The Secretary-General had convened the “Transforming Education Summit” in response to a global crisis in education - one of equity and inclusion, quality, and relevance. Often slow and unseen, this crisis is devastatingly impacting the futures of children and youth worldwide. The Summit provides a unique opportunity to elevate education to the top of the global political agenda and to mobilize action, ambition, solidarity, and solutions to recover pandemic-related learning losses and sow the seeds to transform education in a rapidly changing world.

Oxford University Press Celebrates 110 Years in India

Oxford University Press

NEW DELHI, Sept. 19, 2022 — Celebrating its 110 years in India, Oxford University Press (OUP), a department of the prestigious “University of Oxford,” announced the launch of its new suite of blended learning solutions—OXFORD INSPIRE. Catering to students in grades 1 to 8, Oxford Inspire is one of India’s first competency-based composite learning solutions with ‘learner success’ at its core. It would inspire learners to acquire knowledge, abilities, and skills through various experiences in an engaging and flexible environment and encourage teachers to engage innovatively with learners by combining sound pedagogy with new-age technology.

‘Oxford Inspire’ will offer print and digital courseware for English, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, and Science, blending the two learning mediums through a unique learning journey. The gamified platform will allow more significant levels of student engagement and drive a deeper understanding of core concepts. ‘Oxford Inspire’ will also offer a Reading Portal, a multilingual digital library with exclusive graded stories on Indian and International themes.

Oxford Inspire’s three fundamental pillars, competency-based progression, flexible learning environment, and learner engagement, are critical to creating confidence, connection, active involvement, and lifelong learning. Aligned with the new National Education Policy’s (NEP 2020) priorities, these pillars will enable classrooms to shift from traditional rote learning methods to holistic concept-based learning.

Oxford University Press (OUP) is one of the world’s largest university presses with a broad global presence. It publishes in many countries, in more than 40 languages, and in various formats - print and digital. As a result, OUP products cover a vast academic and educational spectrum.

Celebrating 110 years, OUP is credited with revolutionizing publishing in India. Oxford books were being sold in India much before the Oxford University Press was set up in India in 1912.

The first academic book published by the branch was Dr. S. Radhakrishnan’s Essentials of Psychology in 1912. Dr. Radhakrishnan was then Assistant Professor at Presidency College, Madras (later became the first Vice President and then the President of India).

By 1915, the India branch began to publish the Oxford School Atlas. The Atlas is currently in its 36th edition. Jim Corbett’s Man-Eaters of Kumaon, published in 1945, remains one of the bestsellers for OUP. Oxford English Dictionary started selling in 1928.

The Wealthiest Cities in the World in 2022

Wealthiest Cities

Fastest Growing Cities

LONDON, Sept. 13, 2022 — The USA dominates the world’s Top 20 Cities with the Most Millionaires in 2022, with New York taking the crown with 345,600 millionaires. Five other American cities, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas, secure places on the coveted world’s wealthiest cities ranking. Tokyo is in 2nd place with 304,900 high-net-worth residents worth over USD 1 million.

London, the wealthiest city in the world for many years, drops to 4th place below the San Francisco Bay Area with just 272,400 millionaires. This information comes from the latest Henley Global Citizens Report, which tracks private wealth migration trends worldwide.

Two Chinese cities, Beijing (9th) and Shanghai (10th), make it into the Top 10, and Switzerland and Australia each manage to secure two top city spots, with Sydney (11th), Zurich (15th), Melbourne (17th), and Geneva (19th) all making the cut. Singapore (5th), Hong Kong (SAR China) (12th), Frankfurt (13th), Toronto (14th), Seoul (16th), and finally Paris, plummeting three places to 20th, make up the rest of the 2022 ranking.

The report features exclusive data from global wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth. It includes the five wealthiest cities in each significant region and the 25 fastest growing cities in terms of millionaire growth.

Dr. Juerg Steffen, CEO of Henley & Partners, points out that 14 of the Top 20 are in countries that host investment migration programs. ” The right to live, work, study, and invest in leading international wealth hubs such as New York, London, Singapore, Sydney, and Toronto can be secured via residence by investment. Being able to relocate yourself, your family, or your business to a more favorable city or have the option to choose between multiple different residences across the world is an increasingly important aspect of international wealth and legacy planning for private clients.”

The millionaire populations of Dubai, Mumbai, and Shenzhen are expected to break into the Top 20 wealthiest cities by 2030, according to Andrew Amoils, Head of Research at New World Wealth. “Cities with strong oil and gas industries are performing especially well this year, including Riyadh, Sharjah, Luanda, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Lagos. Others on the fastest-growing list include Lugano, a Swiss hotspot for affluent retirees, Bengaluru, the ‘Silicon Valley of India,’ and Hangzhou, one of China’s most scenic cities.”

New York: At its meeting in New York on September 7, 2022, the Executive Board of the International Press Institute (IPI) appointed Frane Maroević as the organization’s next executive director. He will take over the management of this global network of editors, journalists, and media executives from Barbara Trionfi after she steps down at the beginning of November 2022.

“Today, independent media and journalists are under attack from more directions than ever,” said IPI Executive Board Chair Khadija Patel. “I look forward to working with Frane to strengthen IPI’s support for independent media worldwide. He is committed to defending press freedom and has experience resolving various threats that journalists face today”.

Maroević brings to this position over 30 years in journalism, media development, and press freedom. He developed his passion for journalism and learned this profession’s skills, professional standards, and values at the BBC World Service in London. In post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina, he worked on reforming public broadcasting and media regulation and managed donor support for independent media. As the director of the office of the OSCE media freedom representative, he managed responses to numerous cases of media freedom violations in 54 countries that are part of this intergovernmental organization. Before joining IPI, his work at the Internet and Jurisdiction Policy Network and the Freedom Online Coalition Advisory Network focused on threats to online freedom of expression.

“The IPI is the world’s oldest global press freedom organization, and I am deeply honored to have been chosen as its next executive director,” said Frane Maroević, “Attacks on free media are attacks on our societies. I will work with the IPI Board, team, and members worldwide to improve journalists’ safety and resolve physical, legal, economic, online, and multiple other threats faced by the traditional media and the new media actors. In this time of disinformation and din, we need independent media more than ever to shine a light on our world.

“The strength of IPI is having members across the globe who understand the problems faced by journalists in every corner of the world and can develop local solutions. Moreover, the solidarity of the members and their shared mission ”to defend media freedom and the free flow of news wherever they are threatened” means that they are always ready to support and help each other. Together they are a compelling voice for independent media and press freedom.

“I am looking forward to working with Barbara Trionfi to ensure a smooth transition and to continue and build on the achievements of IPI under her leadership,” concluded Maroević.

The International Press Institute (IPI) is a global network of editors, media executives, and leading journalists who share a common dedication to quality, independent journalism.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) had, through a gazette notification dated January 19, 2013, made it mandatory for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to undergo accreditation. Accordingly, accreditation will now be required for higher education institutions (HEIs) to be eligible to receive grants and other financial assistance from the Central Government.

NAAC accreditation identifies the institute’s quality in terms of its education, research, faculty, and infrastructure, gives students confidence in selecting a quality institution, and provides instant credibility to a Higher Education Institution.
