In a private ceremony, Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, was joined by Head of Design Mitja Borkert and Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr for an emotional unveiling of this futuristic limited-edition hybrid supercar.

Inspired by the past and engineered for the future, the Countach LPI 800-4 celebrates the visionary design that revolutionized modern sports cars forever. With just 112 units produced globally, these two Countach are the only ones to carry their exterior color in North America, Luci Del Bosco and Bronzo Zante.

“As we initiate the first deliveries of the Countach in the U.S. to our valued customers, it is an honor to present these masterpieces to their owners at the Lamborghini Lounge Monterey. The Countach has inspired the Lamborghini design DNA for decades, and it was only fitting that we delivered the new Countach LPI 800-4 during the world-renowned Monterey Car Week celebrating automotive excellence,” remarked Stephan Winkelmann. “It is always extraordinary for me to experience the excitement and emotion a customer senses when seeing their Lamborghini for the first time.”

The Countach LPI 800-4’s all-wheel-drive delivers a total of 814 hp and outstanding performance, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 8.6 seconds, and a top speed of 355 km/h.

Paris. France, August 29, 2022 — UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay has named the American University in Cairo’s Libraries and Learning Technologies, Rare Books, and Special Collections Library in Egypt as the laureate of the 2022 UNESCO/Jikji Memory of the World Prize. She did it following the recommendation of an international jury of experts.

“The Rare Books and Special Collections Library is a powerful testament to how well-preserved, accessible documentary heritage can become a wellspring for understanding history and culture across regions. I congratulate them on winning this Prize,” said UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.

In its recommendation, the international jury of experts recognized the laureate’s unique expertise and outstanding work in preserving and enabling access to Egyptian documentary heritage of global significance. The Library will be presented with the Prize in a ceremony in Cheongju, the Republic of Korea, on September 2, during the 30th-anniversary celebration of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme.

• The Rare Books and Special Collections Library

Founded in 1919, the American University in Cairo (AUC) became actively involved in the preservation of cultural heritage in the 1950s when it acquired the collection of Sir Keppel Archibald Cameron Creswell, a pioneer in the study of Islamic art and architecture. It has since continued collecting and preserving rare books, drawings, and other documentary heritage, including, to name but a few, the papers, plans, and artifacts of notable Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy, the Van Leo Photographic Collection, and documents about the history of Egyptian women and society.

The University’s Rare Books and Special Collections Library has a conservation laboratory and digitization center, contributing to its important work in preserving Egyptian documentary heritage and making it accessible to scholars, students, and the public. By supporting research and collaborating with other institutions in Egypt and beyond, the Library has become an indispensable research hub for Arabic and African countries.

The UNESCO / Jikji Memory of the World Prize commemorates the inscription on the Memory of the World International Register of Buljo jikji simche yojeol, a Korean work considered the oldest book printed with movable metal type. Funded by the Republic of Korea through the City of Cheongju, the Prize recognizes efforts to contribute to preserving and accessibility to documentary heritage as the common heritage of humanity.

Harvard Business School to Provide Full Tuition Scholarships for Students with Greatest Financial Need

Harvard Business School

BOSTON, Aug. 21, 2022 — Harvard Business School (HBS) announced today that it would provide scholarships to cover tuition and course fees for those with the greatest financial need—approximately 10 percent of its student body. It would make the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree more affordable and accessible to a broader array of students. The School will also offer scholarship support to more students from middle-income backgrounds, building on the approximately 50 percent of students who already receive scholarships. Both changes will benefit current, and future students and are the latest in a series of steps over the past decade to reduce financial barriers to enrolling in the two-year full-time MBA Program.

“We know the talent is much more evenly distributed than opportunity,” said HBS Dean Srikant Datar. “Harvard Business School should be a place where the most talented future leaders can come to realize their potential. We want to remove the financial barriers that stand in their way and alleviate the debt burden so they can focus on becoming leaders who make a difference in the world.”

Over the past several years, the School has worked to make the MBA Program more affordable for students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Recent approaches include:

“We recognize that financial concerns may keep exceptional potential applicants from considering business school as an option,” said Chad Losee, Managing Director of MBA Admissions and Financial Aid at HBS. “Given the impact, they are having in their companies and communities, that is a loss for them and society as a whole. By funding the full cost of tuition for students with the greatest financial need, we aim to ensure that prospective students from all socioeconomic backgrounds, industries, and parts of the world have access to the HBS experience.”

HBS has long granted financial aid through a need-based approach, unusual for graduate business schools. It uses a formula that considers pre-MBA income and assets, socioeconomic background, and undergraduate debt in determining financial needs for both domestic and international students.

With this additional commitment from the School, roughly 10 percent of all HBS students—those with the greatest financial need—will receive a full tuition and course fee scholarship of $76,000 each year of the two-year program. Students will continue to be responsible for their living expenses.

“Affordability is paramount because it enables people from all backgrounds, experiences, and interests to enroll at HBS,” said Matthew Weinzierl, Senior Associate Dean of the MBA Program. “Our case-based approach to teaching and learning relies heavily on exposing HBS students to various perspectives. As a result, we’re preparing them to be leaders in organizations and a world marked by vast human differences and diversity.”

Global Citizen announces lineups for the 2022 Global Citizen Festival in New York City & Accra, Ghana, on September 24, 2022

Global Citizen, Priyanka Chopra

Photo: Global Citizen Ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas will host the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, New York City, on September 24, 2022.

NEW YORK, August 11, 2022 — International advocacy organization Global Citizen has announced the lineups for the 10th anniversary Global Citizen Festival. The festival will occur in New York City’s Central Park, presented by Citi and Cisco, and Black Star Square in Accra, Ghana, presented by Harith General Partners, on Saturday, September 24, 2022.

Since it lit up Central Park’s Great Lawn in 2012, the Global Citizen Festival has become the world’s longest-running global campaign calling for an end to extreme poverty. The event unites millions of voices, amplified by the world’s most prominent artists, demanding world leaders take action NOW.

Globally, the disproportionate impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed nearly 100 million more people into extreme poverty and is reversing recent trends of shrinking inequality, leading to the loss of at least three years of progress. Without urgent action, this backsliding will only worsen, the organization said. In addition, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has aggravated the situation further, with as many as 323 million people facing acute hunger and 1.2 billion people currently living in nations experiencing a perfect storm of food, energy, and financial crises. If we don’t take action now, as many as 200 million more people may be plunged into extreme poverty by November, Global Citizen warned.

The 2022 Global Citizen Festival will call on world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly and the G20 and COP27 to step up and invest $600 million. The investment will go into the future of women and girls, close the annual $10 billion climate financing shortfall, deliver $500 million to help African farmers respond to the global food crisis, and provide urgent relief from crushing debts to End Extreme Poverty.

With two stages in international cultural capitals, New York City and Accra, Ghana, the 2022 Global Citizen Festival will be broadcast and streamed on ABC, ABC News Live, FX, Hulu, iHeartRadio, TimesLIVE, Twitter, YouTube, and more. ABC News Live’s broadcast will air on Saturday, September 24, and a primetime special, Global Citizen Festival: Take Action NOW, will air on ABC on Sunday, September 25 at 7:00 pm ET / 6:00 pm CT. Different tune-in details to follow in the coming weeks.

Performers on the Central Park stage will include Metallica, Charlie Puth, Jonas Brothers, MÅNESKIN, Mariah Carey, Mickey Guyton, and Rosalía, with more to be announced. In addition, actor, producer, author, and Global Citizen Ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas will host the Global Citizen Festival in NYC.

Marking the 65th anniversary of Ghana’s independence and the 20th anniversary of the African Union, Accra’s iconic Black Star Square will see live performances from Usher, SZA, Stormzy, Gyakie, H.E.R., Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and TEMS with more to be announced.

“Decades of systemic and political failures have led humanity into the midst of converging and rapidly deteriorating crises - climate, hunger, health, war, and conflict. We demand a secure future for girls everywhere. We demand governments keep their promises on climate funding. We demand relief from debts unjustly crashing economies. And we demand action NOW, while there’s still time to change our collective trajectory,” Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Citizen, said.

CHANDIGARH, India, July 28, 2022 — In this ever-shrinking world that is getting increasingly globalized and well-connected, the value of graduates with international experience and education has attained new significance. Not just that, but receiving instruction in a foreign university will give one a much higher chance of bagging their dream job, besides learning new languages, appreciating other cultures, overcoming challenges of living in another country, and gaining a greater understanding of the world.

Chandigarh University has been one of the leading universities to fulfill the dreams of the students wishing to gain a world-class education and employment opportunities abroad. Chandigarh University has opened new avenues for its students who want to study and work abroad. It relies on the envious record of academic tie-ups with more than 450 leading universities in over 80 countries.

Under the international tie-ups with these world-class institutions, Chandigarh University offers Student Exchange Programme, Summer Training, Semester, Master’s Degree, Ph.D., Joint Workshop, Conference and Research Work, Faculty Exchange, Dual Degree Programme, and employment opportunities abroad.

The University facilitates the entire process, from admissions to visa applications for its students under one roof in a very transparent and straightforward manner. As a result, not only are the students thoroughly prepared for IELTS and Visa interviews, but the University also looks after the visa application, which has a high success rate. Chandigarh University has an average visa success rate of 95%, going up to 100% for the USA and 98% for Canada.

Chandigarh University provides students the opportunity to study across the countries on six continents, including Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Spain, Georgia, Russia, Italy, Germany, Finland, Poland in Europe, USA, Canada; Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand in Asia, as well as in Africa, South America and Australia.

Under the International Semester Abroad and Semester Exchange Programs, the institution offers the golden opportunity to students to improve their employability and supplements the value of degrees by exposing them to different cultures.

Under semester exchange programs to Europe, Asia, South Africa, South America, etc., students don’t require to pay tuition abroad, and the price only has to be paid at Chandigarh University. Whereas under semester abroad programs to USA, UK, Australia, etc., a reduced semester fee has to be paid in international universities, while no cost is to be paid at Chandigarh University.

Chandigarh University provides International Transfer Programs (ITPs), which allow students to complete an initial part of their degree at Chandigarh University and transfer to a Foreign Country to get a degree from a foreign University. Disciplines include Engineering, Medicines, Architecture, Management, Journalism, Psychology, Animation, Nutrition, and Pharmacy.

The advantages are aplenty. The most significant is reduced foreign tuition fees since up to 50% of the course is done here. In addition, relaxed Entry Criteria and the availability of academic scholarships with full Housing Scholarships at well-ranked universities are some of the other benefits for aspiring students.

Under the programs, students get a degree with international recognition that will provide them multifold benefits in their academic and professional life, increasing their employability, improving their professional portfolio, and embellishing the degree’s value.

Chandigarh University has helped more than 2000 students realize their dream of studying abroad and attaining employment there.

Gati Shakti University

New Delhi, August 03, 20212 — Lok Sabha (lower house of India’s bicameral Parliament) today passed Central Universities (Amendment) Bill 2022 for conversion of the National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), a Deemed to be University into Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), a Central University.

While replying in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development, Dharmendra Pradhan, said that Prime Minister Modi always works with a vision for the future. Under his leadership, a future-ready workforce is ready to embrace the fourth industrial revolution and the challenges of the 21st century.

Mr. Pradhan spoke about the transformations in the infrastructure and transport sectors, including roads, railways, shipping, and aviation. He said that the growth of transport sectors, the building of airports across the nation in smaller cities, and increasing air traffic reflect the aspirations of the people of India. The Education Minister said that the transformation in the transport sector calls for building an institution to build a knowledge repository, conduct research, curate best practices, facilitate skill development, work on capacity building and facilitate the growth of transport sectors. He added that future students would need to learn about the environment, commerce, and social sciences, in addition to STEM, to succeed in the infrastructure sector. Thus India has envisioned and created a world-class, multi-disciplinary, multi-dimensional futuristic institution called Gati Shakti University.

NEW YORK, August 3, 2022 — Today, FORTUNE announced  the ‘Fortune Global 500’ list for 2022, ranking the world’s largest corporations by revenue for fiscal 2021.  Walmart  claims the top spot for the ninth consecutive year and for the 17th time since 1995. In addition, Saudi Aramco (No. 6) reclaims its title as the world’s most profitable company, with $105 billion in earnings.

Mainland China  (including Hong Kong), with 136,  has the most companies on the list,  up from last year. Adding Taiwan, the total for Greater China is 145. The U.S., with 124, is up two; in third place, Japan lost six, totaling 47. For the first time, the aggregate revenue of Fortune Global 500 companies based in Greater China (including Taiwan) exceeded the income of U.S. companies on the list, accounting for 31% of the total.

Of the 2022 rankings, FORTUNE List Editor Scott DeCarlo says, “A rebound from the worst depths of the pandemic created a huge tailwind for the world’s largest companies by revenue. As a result, aggregate sales and profits hit record levels in the fiscal year 2021 for the Fortune Global 500. The Global 500 is the ultimate scorecard for business success, and the companies face another big test navigating several global economic headwinds in 2022.”

Fortune Global 500 companies generated revenues totaling $37.8 trillion—more than one-third of the world’s GDP—for an increase of 19% over last year, marking the highest annual growth rate in the list’s 33-year history. Cumulative profits were up 88% for a record $3.1 trillion over the previous year. Companies on the 2022 list employ 69.6 million people worldwide and are based in 229 cities and 33 countries and regions. The number of Fortune Global 500 women CEOs rose to 24 this year, from 23 last year.

In her foreword to the magazine’s August/September 2022 issue, FORTUNE Editor-in-Chief Alyson Shontell writes, “Here’s the catch: [These] numbers reflect financials from 2021 when the world was starting to bounce back from COVID-19. However, this year has brought a whole new truckload of challenges. For businesses of every size, the real test will be who can survive and thrive in tough conditions, especially if—or when—a recession of unknown length and depth settles in.”

Companies are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years ended on or before March 31, 2022. All listed companies must publish financial data and report part or all of their figures to a government agency.

Mahindra Scorpio

MUMBAI, India, August 1, 2022 — Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. announced that it had recorded 1,00,000 bookings for the All-New Scorpio-N within 30 minutes of the booking commencement at 11:00 am today. That translates into an ex-showroom value of - ₹18,000 crores / - USD 2.3 billion. Customers’ enthusiasm for the All-New Scorpio-N has been extraordinary - the Scorpio-N recorded 25,000 bookings within one minute of booking commencement, the company added.

The deliveries of the All-New Scorpio-N will begin September 26, 2022, onwards. Over 20,000 units of the All-New Scorpio-N are planned for delivery by December 2022, wherein the Z8L variant will be prioritized. Mahindra said it would inform the customers about their delivery date by August 2022.

The booking website handled the massive rush of orders well, but there was a brief glitch with the payment gateway provider. Mahindra said that it would like to assure the customers that their time stamp before payment is duly recorded on the booking platform so that each customer will have their rightful place in the order sequence. Accordingly, the first 25,000 will get considered for introductory prices based on this sequence.

The introductory prices of the All-New Scorpio-N variants are applicable for the first 25,000 bookings. After that, the costs for the subsequent bookings will be as per the prices prevalent at the delivery time. The company explained that bookings for the All-New Scorpio-N will continue to be accepted online and at dealerships.

The All-New Scorpio-N has been designed, engineered, and built to disrupt the SUV segment and redefine the existing product category hierarchies across multiple SUV segments creating resonance with the urban customers looking forward to owning an authentic SUV.

“Thrilling performance, unmissable presence, premium crafted interiors, sophisticated ride, and handling, ‘Go Anywhere’ capability, bristling with tech, having a clean conscience, and an immersive and enjoyable experience via AdrenoX makes the Scorpio-N a stand-out SUV,” Mahindra said. Scorpio-N is available in variants including diesel and petrol, manual and automatic transmissions, and 6-seater or 7-seater capacity. It is also available with 4XPLOR first-in-class intelligent terrain management technology to transform it into an all-conquering, capable 4WD beast.
