India's Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched "Let's Move Forward," a Comic Book developed by NCERT and UNESCO.


The book uses storytelling to inspire students to prioritize their holistic well-being.

New Delhi, August 29, 2023 — Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, launched a new comic book called “Let’s Move Forward.”

Mr. Pradhan emphasized that this book would inspire students to prioritize their well-being while entertaining them through storytelling. The book promotes good health and wellness, critically emphasizing mental health. Dharmendra Pradhan also highlighted the significance of stories in promoting societal harmony and well-being.

Mr. Pradhan highlighted the value of collaborating with UNESCO during India’s G20 Presidency. He urged UNESCO to share Indian stories to benefit not only the youth of India but also the global community.

The comic book is a joint project by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and UNESCO New Delhi. It represents a significant step towards achieving the objectives of the School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP).

“Let’s Move Forward” comic book serves as a guiding light for wellness centers in educational institutions. This comic book is designed for adolescents and covers vital information on 11 thematic components of the School Health and Wellness Program. These components include emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, gender equality, nutrition and health, substance abuse prevention, healthy lifestyles, reproductive health, internet safety, and more.

The “Let’s Move Forward” comic book imparts life skills essential for promoting responsible and health-conscious adolescent behavior. This innovative approach not only disseminates health-related knowledge but also facilitates the acquisition of life skills necessary for comprehensive personal development. It is available in multiple languages, including Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Tamil, and Telugu.

The Ministry of Education, India, will distribute “Let’s Move Forward” comic book copies nationwide across educational and health institutions. Its distribution will encompass State School Education Departments, SCERTs, Colleges of Teacher Education (CTEs), Institutes of Advanced Study in Education (IASEs), District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), Block Institutes of Teacher Education (BITEs), and state health departments. Additionally, the comic books will be disseminated to the 29,000 schools affiliated with the CBSE, expanding its outreach. An electronic version of the comic book will also be accessible on the Ministry of Education (MoE), NCERT, UNESCO, and DIKSHA websites.
