UGC India enforces High Standards in Higher Education; Forms a Committee to prevent Malpractices with Corrective Actions against Offenders.

UG, India

New Delhi, India, May 26, 2023 — The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a Public Notice on the Maintenance of Standards of Higher Education in the Country. In addition, it has established a Standing Committee to prevent Malpractice. The Committee will identify institutions requiring attention, gather information about them, and recommend corrective actions against the offenders.

According to UGC, Higher Education Institutions must adhere to minimum standards prescribed by UGC Regulations to maintain higher education quality. Any breach of these standards tends to tarnish the quality of university instruction in the Country. Therefore, UGC considers such violations consequential and is committed to taking appropriate measures to prevent them.

• The UGC Public Notice says, “The Standing Committee will meet at fixed intervals, look into the complaints, scrutinize the documents of HEIs, and recommend appropriate action to be taken by the UGC on the HEIs violating the Regulations.”
