Washington, DC, June 22, 2023 — Yesterday, as part of his official state visit to the U.S., Prime Minister Modi was welcomed to the White House this morning by President Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and thousands of Indian-Americans. The two leaders engaged in productive conversations in restricted and delegation-level formats, discussing important issues such as trade, investment, defense, security, energy, climate change, and people-to-people ties.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a private event hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at the White House. During the event, he had the opportunity to meet the Bidens’ immediate family members and reaffirm the strong friendship between the two countries.

Today, Prime Minister Modi addressed a Joint Sitting of the U.S. Congress at the invitation of several Congressional leaders, including Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Vice President Kamala Harris. He expressed his appreciation for the bipartisan support for India-US relations in the U.S. Congress and shared his vision for elevating bilateral ties. The Prime Minister also highlighted the significant progress made by India and the opportunities it presents for the world.
