LOS ANGELES, CA - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 96th Academy Awards Shortlists in 10 categories: Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound and Visual Effects.
India’s official entry in the international feature film category, “2018: Everyone is a Hero”, is out of the Oscars race. The film failed to make it to the shortlist of 15 films for the category.
The International Feature Film shortlist includes Amerikatsi (Armenia), The Monk and the Gun (Bhutan), Fallen Leaves (Finland), The Taste of Things (France), The Teachers’ Lounge (Germany), Godland (Iceland), Io Capitano (Italy), Perfect Days (Japan), Totem (Mexico), The Mother of All Lies (Morocco), Society of the Snow (Spain), Four Daughters (Tunisia), 20 Days in Mariupol (Ukraine), and The Zone of Interest (United Kingdom).
Films from 88 countries were eligible in the category. The shortlisted movies will advance to the next round of voting.

Washington, DC, December 19, 2023 — The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has concluded its yearly consultation with India. IMF noted that India’s economy has grown robust over the past year, with employment surpassing pre-pandemic levels, formalization progressing, and the financial sector remaining resilient. The current account deficit widened in 2023 as domestic demand and external shocks outweighed robust services exports and proactive diversification of critical oil imports. Despite this, growth is expected to remain strong, with real GDP projected to grow 6.3 percent in 2024 and 2025. However, risks to the outlook are balanced, with a sharp global growth slowdown and further global supply disruptions cited as potential challenges.
Executive Directors commended India’s authorities for their prudent macroeconomic policies and reforms that resulted in the country’s strong economic performance, resilience, and financial stability. They called for appropriate policies to sustain economic stability and further progress in critical structural reforms to unleash India’s significant potential.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) directors also praised the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) efforts to maintain economic stability through proactive monetary policy actions and a solid commitment to price stability. They agreed that the current neutral monetary policy stance, based on a data-dependent approach, is appropriate and should gradually help bring inflation back to its target level.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) annually conducts bilateral discussions with member countries to gather economic and financial information. During these discussions, officials discuss the country’s economic developments and policies. The IMF staff then prepares a report, which the Executive Board discusses. The Managing Director summarizes the views of the Executive Directors and transmits them to the member country’s authorities.

Borgo Panigale, Bologna (Italy), December 15, 2023 - Ducati celebrates the recent victories at the MotoGP, WorldSBK, and WorldSSP by creating five collector’s edition Panigale series. These motorcycles are inspired by the Desmosedici GP of Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge MartÃn, and Marco Bezzecchi, as well as the Panigale V4R of Alvaro Bautista and Nicolo Bulega’s Panigale V2. The Panigale V4s dedicated to Bagnaia and Bautista are designed with a yellow livery used by the two champions during the Misano Grand Prix and SBK Round. This iconic color has been used throughout Ducati’s history, making the motorcycles even more special.
The company presented the bikes at the press conference during the “Campioni in Festa,” an event with which Ducati celebrated its historic success with its enthusiasts.
Each of the five replicas will be unique, featuring the rider’s original autograph on the tank, protected by a layer of transparent varnish. These replicas celebrate the racing numbers of the riders to whom they are dedicated: Pecco Bagnaia’s 63, Alvaro Bautista’s 19, Jorge Martin’s 89, Marco Bezzecchi’s 72, and Nicolo Bulega’s 11.
The Panigale 2023 Racing Replicas are inspired by racing bikes and are offered only in single-seater configuration. Each bike is decorated with a billet aluminum steering plate with the model’s name and progressive number laser engraved. A dedicated key and animation for the dashboard are activated when you turn on the key. Additionally, the saddle is made of unique material and displays the rider’s logo, just like on the race bike.
Each motorbike has a certificate of authenticity and is delivered in a wooden packing case with dedicated graphics and a customized cover.

“We’ve already done a lot with press freedom; we’re going to continue those efforts,” Wilkins said in her speech after the Club announced the results.
Wilkins pledged to continue the efforts of outgoing President Eileen O’Reilly, who she said focused on diversity and inclusion, making people feel more welcome at the Club and helping them better understand what the Club has to offer. O’Reilly is sure Wilkins will keep the Club moving forward.
“Emily has been active in leadership at the National Press Club for many years now, and I have every confidence she will be a fantastic president with sharp ideas on engaging our membership, driving new important efforts on press freedom, and continuing to strengthen the Club’s presence as a leader and a community for all journalists and communicators,” she said.
Wilkins started at CNBC in June, covering Congress, critical regulatory issues, and policies that impact American businesses and the economy. Before CNBC, she served as a reporter for Bloomberg Government, covering breaking news coming out of Washington and Congress with a focus on House leadership. She previously reported on education and labor for both Bloomberg Government and CQ Roll Call.

Bologna, Italy, November 28, 2023 — Francesco Bagnaia, riding for the Ducati Lenovo Team, has secured his second consecutive MotoGP World Championship title, making history as the first Italian rider to win in MotoGP with an Italian motorcycle. Bagnaia’s victory came in the final race of the season held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste, where he won the Valencia GP. His success this year, with seven victories in 20 Grand Prix races, including four wins in the Saturday Sprint races introduced this year, cements his position as one of the greatest riders of his generation. He reconfirms his place at the world’s top with his Ducati Desmosedici GP.
Bagnaia’s journey this year was emotional and eventful, with notable successes at Portim, Jerez, Mugello, the Netherlands, and Austria. His march towards a second title seemed unstoppable until a dramatic accident at Barcelona halted his rise. However, with a spectacular victory in Indonesia, he resumed his climb to the top of the World Championship from the thirteenth position on the grid.
The fight for the world title became a head-to-head between Bagnaia and his Ducati teammate Jorge MartiÂn, who was in tune with his Pramac Racing team Desmosedici GP. However, Bagnaia’s response was quick, and he inherited the lead on lap 19 at Valencia when Miller (KTM) crashed at Turn 11. Martin made a late braking move on Pecco to try to take the lead at Turn 1 of lap 2, but they touched, and the Spaniard went wide. Martin then crashed out on lap 6, ending the title battle.
Ducati is now gearing up to celebrate its victories in the MotoGP World Championships and the titles won in Superbike and Supersport. The celebration is set to take place on December 15 in Bologna, where all the key players involved in these successes will come together to commemorate this unforgettable season with the public.

El Salvador, November 13, 2023 — El Salvador is ready to welcome 86 candidates from various countries worldwide for the 72nd Miss Universe competition. The government has allocated a large budget to promote tourism in the country by hosting this event. Renowned for its stunning coastline, natural landscapes featuring volcanoes, and unique coffee, El Salvador will impress participants and viewers alike.
The Miss Universe Organization has announced the training schedule, activities, and rehearsals leading to the three shows. The 72nd Miss Universe Preliminary Competition will be streamed live on LiveBash on November 15, followed by the 72nd Miss Universe National Costume Show on November 16, and finally, the 72nd Miss Universe Competition Final on November 18. Olivia Culpo and Jeannie Mai will return to the Miss Universe stage to host the event, joined by Maria Menounos.
It is only the second time that the show will feature an all-female hosting team. Miss Universe has partnered with Carnival Cruise Line again, and one lucky candidate will receive the “Spirit of Carnival Award” along with a Carnival cruise vacation. Furthermore, Clarisse Designs will provide dresses for all 86 delegates to wear for the opening numbers of the preliminary and final competitions.

Geneva, November 8, 2023 — The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, has released the “World Intellectual Property Indicators - 2023”. It is an annual survey providing accurate and authoritative information on IP activity worldwide. For the survey, WIPO’s statisticians collect data from around 150 IP offices globally.
According to the report, a record number of patent applications have been filed worldwide in 2022.
While global filings for trademarks and designs have dropped, innovators worldwide submitted 3.46 million patent applications in 2022, marking a third consecutive year of growth. China, the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Germany were the countries with the highest numbers of patent filings in 2022.
China continues to file nearly half of all global patent applications, but its growth rate dipped for a second consecutive year from 6.8% in 2021 to 3.1% in 2022.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, expressed his satisfaction with the increase in patent applications within the country. He shared a link to a post by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which stated that the number of patent applications submitted by Indian residents rose by 31.6% in 2022, extending an impressive 11-year streak of growth that no other country in the top 10 filers has achieved.
The Prime Minister said: “The rise in patent applications in India indicates the growing innovative spirit of our youth and bodes well for the future.”

New Delhi, October 30, 2023 — In light of the Indian cricket team’s ongoing winning streak in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Mastercard has launched a special anthem that allows millions of cricket fans across the country to relive the 2011 victory.
The anthem features Mastercard’s brand ambassador and former World Cup-winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni reminiscing about the moments leading up to the historic win 12 years ago at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. It showcases scores of fans cheering for the Men in Blue as they chased down Sri Lanka’s 275-run target to win the coveted trophy.
